Creative Writing Studies appoints US representative

Anthony Haynes writes: The Professional and Higher Partnership Ltd (“P&H”) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Emma Barker as its US representative. The appointment is intended to spur the company’s plan to grow its publishing operation in North America. Ms Barker’s role will focus on marketing, sales, and distribution.  She will also seek co-publication deals with American presses.

P&H publishes two imprints: (1) Creative Writing Studies, aimed at scholars, teachers, and students of creative writing in colleges and universities; and (2) The Professional and Higher Partnership, aimed at professionals working in higher education.

Emma Barker, who is based in New York, is a publishing professional with over a decade of experience in sales, marketing and editorial on both sides of the Atlantic.  She was a Commissioning Editor and Senior Marketing Manager at Continuum Publishing in London and New York City and was most recently Sales and Marketing Manager at NYU Press.

Commenting on the agreement, P&H Director Anthony Haynes said, “We are delighted in general that we now have a representative in America and, in particular, that we have someone of Emma’s calibre. We believe Emma will play a key role in our expansion plan, especially through co-publication with American presses and promotion to the institutional market”.

Emma Barker commented, “I’m excited to be working with P&H on expanding their readership and reach in the North American market.  Both existing and forthcoming titles have great potential to reach a wide audience in the US and I’m eager to assist P&H in this opportunity for growth.”
