Supporting independent booksellers online

Anthony Haynes writes: Many readers are concerned to support independent booksellers. There has been much debate in the press, online, and in the industry about the domination of bookselling by large corporations such as Amazon.

Typically, the debate has focused on the impacts on independent bricks-and-mortar booksellers. But we need also to consider the position of independent bookselling online.

We support independent online retailers in two ways. First, our e-book distributor, Gardners, is a long-established wholesaler, well known to many independents. Its digital warehouse supplies e-books to an increasing number of independents’ sites.

Second, we are open to dealing directly with online indies. We are very pleased to supply our e-book editions to FirstyFish. From our Creative Writing Studies imprint FirstyFish retail both Rethinking Creative Writing by Stephanie Vanderslice and Teaching Creative Writing, edited by Elaine Walker.
